Demonstrated Effectiveness

The campus goal was to enhance differentiated instruction, including small group work, in response to student data to improve students’ ability to infer and analyze texts, as demonstrated through oral conversations and written response. The 5th and 6th grade teachers engaged in only five days (approx. 15 total hours per teacher) of professional learning, but their students showed dramatic gains in ELA scores from one year to the next. The graph disaggregates the data based on text type, and follows a cohort from their fifth to sixth grade years.
