Gina Dignon

Gina is a literacy leader with over twenty years of K-8 education experience. Whether as a literacy specialist, coach, coordinator, or classroom teacher, Gina has remained consistently passionate about responsive and meaningful literacy instruction that is both engaging and rigorous for students and teachers. She has worked collaboratively to transform literacy instruction in schools and across districts through in-class coaching, curriculum writing, and coordinating professional learning. Gina understands how to make effective and manageable change over time while keeping students in the center of the decision making process. She is dedicated to supporting teachers in really getting to know their students as readers, writers and people through developing content knowledge, classroom systems, and teaching structures that build on their strengths. This includes supporting teachers in translating layers of assessment information to responsive and impactful classroom instruction that empowers teachers and students.

Gina holds a BS degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in American Studies from Western Connecticut State University, an MA in Language and Literacy from San Francisco State University, and an MA in Reading from Southern Connecticut State University. Gina’s past and present certifications include CA Elementary, CA State Reading Specialist, CA Cultural Language and Development Certificate, CT Elementary, CT Reading Consultant and Remedial Reading Specialist and CT Intermediate Administrator’s Certification.

Gina currently lives in Fairfield, CT with her spouse, three children, and her dog, Leo.
