Katherine is an educator with over 20 years of experience in K-6 classrooms.  She taught for 11 years in New York City (at PS 59 and PS 321) where her classroom regularly served as a literacy labsite during professional development. Once she left the classroom, Katherine supported schools as a staff developer, consultant, and instructional coach.   She has worked in schools in Missouri, New York, Florida, Texas, Wisconsin, Ohio, and New Jersey, where she helped empower teachers to be more confident, flexible, and responsive in their reading and writing instruction. She has also been an adjunct instructor at CUNY and Teachers College.  Her respect for children and passion for growing student engagement and independence continues to guide her work in schools.

Katherine holds a BA degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Educations from Washington University in St. Louis and a MEd in Language and Literacy from the University of Texas at Austin.  Katherine currently lives in Central New Jersey with her spouse and two children.
