In just one year focused on utilizing research-based strategies in the content areas, leaning on The Reading Strategies Book 2.0, the number of students meeting or exceeding grade level standards across grades 6-8 grew from 37% to 63% from the beginning to the end of the school year, and the number of students who were far below grade level expectations decreased from 33% to 19%.

There are six teachers who work at this school. Two have been teaching for 20-25 years, two teachers under five years, and two long term subs. There has been a significant impact on my two youngest teachers from the work they are learning from the consultant. They are implementing literacy instruction in the content areas, and are more effective in literacy instruction, lesson planning, and classroom management.
