Each teacher worked with the literacy specialist for three 90-minute periods focused on improving writing instruction in response to student writing data. Despite this small amount of time with teachers, student impacts were measurable across all grade levels. Score Level 0 (Below Expectations) dropped from an average of 40.1% in 2024 to 25.3% in 2025 while Score Levels 1 & 2 (Partially to Fully Developed) rose from 59.9% to 74.7%.

Our literacy specialist was very encouraging and supportive of what we have to get done for our district and willing to listen to us and give us ideas on how to make our lessons more engaging and exciting for our students. When she worked with students, she had lots of energy and excitement. Her love for writing was contagious!
